Linux Security

Linux is extremely secure. It is certified at one of the highest Government ratings for commercial software and above the standards needed for classified work. Linux also has security code that has been written by the NSA and which is available if you need extraordinary security levels in your business; most businesses never need that level of security.

NASA and the Department of Energy have spent millions on Linux systems and putting some of their most essential work in that environment. Some of the fastest and most secure supercomputers in the world at many secure U.S. government installations use Linux.

Most viruses and malware are targeted at Windows because it is much less secure in the first place. While no computer or its software can be 100% secure, Linux and Open Souce in general are unparalleled for security and provide much better protection than other operating systems against viruses, trojan horses and other malware, as well as against break-in attempts of all types so long as reasonable precautions and best practices are followed.
